9 prefinished Holdenby oak doors hung in Passmore MK in September/October. Supplied by @howdensjoinery. Besides looking great, they actually all shut unlike the old doors.
A few problems happened with this job, one being a frame needing readjusting as it was so too far out of plumb and the head not being level. The other.... i forgot a door! Luckily i was back for another job so soon got this sorted π₯³

A job done in Passmore MK in September/October. New balustrade supplied from @howdensjoinery. The old was very gappy and wobbly, so this brings it in line for safety. All done in time for a new carpet.
Clients parents did an excellent job in painting after.

Part 1
First of a couple posts of the site in Twyford. 2 barn conversions. I started on one barn doing the studwork. After which i came back to finish both barns.
I insulated, plasterboarded, installed doorlinings, doors, skirtings, architraves, flooring and more.
I really enjoyed working on this site as i could be left to do my work. The family were extremely helpful with ice creams over the summer, hot chocolates and biscuits in the winter.
Sadly with the larger jobs, i don't regularly take pictures of the work as it is hard to show what has actually been done.

Solid oak open string staircase in Swanbourne. Also under cupboard/storage space.
One of the last jobs on the site besides carpets. I started on the site 12th June 2021 and last day was 31st August 2022. Starting out on the internal stud work before plasterboard and then door frames, doors, skirting, architraves, kitchens, pocket doors and more. Mainly working on Saturday's and the odd bank hoilday, while working on another site.
Thankfully i had help with the staircase from an old boss/friend and the client.(Definitely needed as it weighed alot!)
Client helped move the staircase in to position with his expert knowledge on rollers. He also varnished and put the finishing touches to the under frame with his partner (Plastering, skirting, architraves and painting.)
Underside cupboards having MRMDF doors cut on site.

Fixing some squeaky, bouncy stairs in buckingham. A previous repair was performed from above by another owner. I glued and screwed from the underside and refixed the wedges in place. It also required a frame to fix to floor as there was a 25mm gap under bottom step to floor.

Pergola built for a regular client in Whitchurch.
It was my first time using the adjustable feet for the posts, they worked great. The bottoms of the posts will be protected by sitting water. Also the client was going to have slabs laid on top of the concrete, so the posts can be lifted clear and leave a nicer finish on the tiles.
I used half laps to connect the posts to the rails, with bolts to keep tight. Then mortice and tennons to join the diagonal supports, with drawbored oak dowel. Another first and amazed by how tight they pulled together.

A bird box i made for a neighbour a few months ago. It was from a rotton tree where a woodpecker made a nest.
I cut the log in half to hollow out the centre. This not only made it lighter, but to make it able to be eaiser to cleaner out.
Hoping to post a few other jobs over the next couple of days.

Doors and frame moved in Whitchurch. The doors were on the far side of the summerhouse from the clients house and needed moving to the opposite side. This gave a lot more light also to the inside.
I thought the job was going to be alot more stressful than it turned out. Luckily the opposite side was mirrored with 2 studs at the perfect width to take the new frame. The existing frame was left and infilled using materials removed from the new opening. With the only materials being brought were the Glass and frame.

Another revisit last week in #stonystratford . When i last visited i hung their upstairs doors and refloored their squeaky landing.
This time i hung 3 downstairs doors, a new lining, architrave and oiled. One door had a uncommon size so needed a new lining to suit modern door sizes.

A garden gate made and installed with new frame in Fairfields this week.
The client wanted a post attached to the new conservatory/shelter but not screwed so i used CT1 and wedged it while it set.
The gate also needed a top cover to prevent people climbing on the side wall and jumping the gate.
The post was hidden behind one of the uprights and corner of the garage to prevent it from being seen from within the shelter.

A fireplace i made a couple of weeks back using reclaimed oak from @theyard_makers delivered by @yourhiab. I routered out the back of the oak to sit a 4"x2" with threaded bars. The 4"x2"s screwed to the wall, the bar running through then tightened on the face. I left it for 2 weeks to settle and shrink in the warmer environment then tightened and glued the plugs. Finished with @osmo_uk.
I'm really happy with how it turned out and so is the client.

I revisited a client i hung some doors for in June. Squeaky flooring on the landing, solved by relaying and adding additional joist supports. Aswell as new boards by the radiators. This was possible, due to new carpets coming new week, while the old carpets were up.

7 four panel doors supplied and fitted in Bletchley last week. The doors are from #howdens and the handles from #ironmongerydirect
"We had requested a supply and fit of 7 internal doors. All doors were supplied exactly as requested. Andrew's work was top notch, all doors were fitted with expert precision, to say we were pleased with the results would be an understatement. Extremely polite individual, and always maintained a clean workspace at the end of every day. We will certainly be using Andrew again when we start our next project!"

Abit more cladding done this weekend at home. Same as before. I still need to put surround/beading around the door frame on top of the architrave to neaten where the wall isn't flat.
The last picture is the livingroom wall once painted. As you can see the screw holes have completely disappeared after the filling and sanding.

Nice weekend job done. Geese sheds floor was cracking and needed repair. Instead of patching up, i opted to rip up the thin layer of concrete and the brickwork underneath and relay the concrete thicker.
Preped it all Saturday, then layed the concrete Sunday morning to go off by the night time for the geese to sleep.
I also updated the pallet barrier separating the 2 male geese with some offcuts from a job. The new one can slide out to make cleaning easier.
Geese are happy, and it should make for an easier job cleaning out!

Decided to improve my mallet after watching a couple of YouTube videos. (New/old trend?) My first attempt diddnt go particularly wellπ₯ (tried a hand tools only approach) sadly no pictures of that attempt but it did burn well on the fire! The second attempt I made using the lathe, ALOT easier. Nothing fancy ash head on an oak handle fixed by a dowel drilled in both. I think there will be a third attempt with changes to the head and a thinner handle that will go through the head with a wedged mortice. This will be in a month or so, while i use this one and think about flaws.

Some pictures from before Christmas when I started my mum's bench. I started by rough cutting the boards on my bandsaw before thicknessing to final size. I then rounded over the corners with my router table. I needed a way my seat and back to be attached to the frame/each other, so I used a half lap. Which has worked which is an improvement on the swing chair design I had during the summer.

Haven't posted in a little while. Just haven't had anything worth posting, Then had a backlog I keep forgetting to put up so I'll most probably put them up in the next few days.
Slowly starting to convert an old milking parlour into my workshop, somewhere that will be dryer and easier keep warm. Knocked down an old wall separating a bulk tank and a crush, to put up a stud wall to change the room layouts. This meant the stairs were able to moved to one side of the shed, and I could have one set on my side. Giving me access to upstairs for wood storage.

Finished the constructing, still have to sand and treat. Made the tresles for the frame, with the diagonals, still have to attach them, but i'll wait untill after the staining. Thinking of taking the corners off the tresle tops and bottoms with a 45* cut. I still have to think of ways to attach the swing chains to the bench but it shouldn't be too hard. I like the overall look however the back rest on the seat could be improved, maybe by adding more of a curve from the base to the top. Its comfortable to sit on, so i'll most probably leave it!π

Found a nice porch swing bench on Pinterest i wanted to try out.(Really good place for ideas!) I used the door wood i cut up earlier for this, nice dry wood. Cut out the seat template on my bandsaw for the rough shape then fine tuned with my spokeshave. Put the panels on top for a test fit, to find out what i will need, cut them down, then thought they were too big so cut them down again. Made a a rough jig on my pillar drill for the holes. (still needs fine tuning) Gave them another test fit, this time screwing them. Then put them on the router table to take the edges off. It all need sanding and staining still, also the tresle parts that i'll hopefully start during the week.

Started on a carving i copied off of pinterest. Stuck it down with some adhesive spray, had trouble in some areas where it diddnt stick well and the chisels would pull the paper. Worked on outlining all the bits so i could take off the paper and work off the wood. Been working on it in my free time, so it takes longer and hopefully not be rushed and messy.

Got lucky at the week and picked up a second hand Sliding Table saw and a Lukin planner thicknesser. Sadly that meant taking apart my framework for the tablesaw but i saw this as more of a improvement. The table came apart with ease because i made it in mind of taking apart in case i need to move it.With the CLS and Ply i have left over now i will use them to make my radial arm saws extensions.

A few more tweeks till its finished! A friend helped me find a soloution for the top being to large for a sheet. It was to put a border around which made sense because you could replace as they wore. I'm gonna need to level the top with the saw by putting packers undeath before screwing. Then look at the hindge for the end of the table to show the cupboard. Also i need to find out what i'll need to make the drawers at the end.
#workshop #wood #woodworking #joinery #tablesaw #fun
Finished planing all the wood with at least 1 square edge for ripping to size if needed. I was suprised by some of the colour that was hidden underneath the stain. Some of the pannels have finger joints in them, so i will use them for venner work to cover up.
#wood #woodworking #joinery #planing #thicknessing #colour #fun
Stripped some stained pine doors i brought awhile ago into their components. Figured it would be cheaper to do this and use the bits for practice joints, boxs, table etc. The panels are the perfect thickness for small trinket boxs. The longer bits i will use for table tops. Most of the waste is good for kindling for my houses fire so really nothing is wasted from it apart from maybe the hindges and locks.
#doors #wood #woodworking #reclaimed #nowaste #fun
Finished. The final colour is alot more glossy than i wanted, hopefully it will dull. The painting black and sanding back diddnt really work on the pine like i hoped (just cleared) In the past i tried on oak and ash and it works, just not on pineπ. So in the end i put 2 coats of teak stain then 2 coats of Boiled linseed oil.
Made a start on replacing the seat slats, they were cut down to size then had a 9.5mm radius on all corners. When i took the old ones off the supports underneath were more rotten then i had thought. I made some new ones from left over CLS from the table saw. The slats are going to be painted ethier brown or black before sanding and having a coat of boiled linseed oil. That will hopefully match the older wood.

Table saw update. Made a start on the cupboard with the lid still needed to be made. Hoping to make storage for my Makita tools and batteries. All the side pannels are on at the front i'm going to have 4/6 draws with some sort of vennered face.( Be warned it will be the frist time i will have used vennerπ
) Leaving the top of the table off until i have a plan, either i order another sheet of birch ply or bodge and put a venner over the top to make a unversial grain pattern. (hopefully cheaper)
#tablesaw #wood #woodworking #joinery #fun #workshop
Got started today on my table saw extension, it will hopefully allow me to start cutting larger lengths on the saw without making towers with my offcuts to support π
. Managed to cut all the timber (89x38 cls) to the lengths and even made most of the frames π. Gonna finish it with a ply top and sides, might even make little windows or doors to have a dust extractor underneath.

A quick clean up to my Mum's pine bench. Gave it a biltz with 40 grit, then 80 for a finish. (outside so smooth to the touch but not overkill) Left the seats slats, because i will hopefully get some replacement slats (They were too far gone to saveπ) Then finished with a coat of boiled linseed oil, really brings out the colour of the knots.π

Finished the raised bed! π I attached the posts around the inside to increase the strength with the dirt pushing against it, then cut the tops as the same shape of the boards. Had some trouble with centre board spilting boths sides so i just glued the bits back onππ. As the joint had become a through tennon it should be strong enough. Real shame, as its lowered the finish but i've learnt from it and the next will be better. One of the perks of living on a farm is the use of machinery, carried it to its resting space. The next raised bed i make will be more flat packed to test the ease of making, and will be more precise, making it nearer to the final product. π
#garden #raisedbed #planting #joinery #wood #woodwork #reclaimed #fun #beginner
Sorry for the wait! Thought i posted an update, but must not have gone up π. Heres the finished piece. As nice it is, i still have to find out a way to clean out the groves, might experment with a draper drill thing i have with a sanding attachment. The next carving piece i might do a band around the log, and maybe have a practical use like a lamps shaft, or balustrading. π

Managed to make the second teir for my raised bed including the angles and one side today. Had to do a bit of changing to the design due to spilts running down the middle of the scaffold boards i've had to ignore the bottom layers angles to keep a strong enough joint π. All in all it still looks nice and should still function well, hoping to finish up tommorow and have it filled with dirt π. #wood #woodworking #joinery #garden #planting #raisedbeds #fun #beginner
With the weather being nice i've decided to do abit more with my garden and start planting veg. Been planning on making another 2 raised beds. Was hoping to use nice wood, but these scaffold boards were laying around. (free wood!! π
π) Thought it would be best to make the main bulk of the frame before adding the details.
